Even though I\u2019ve been at ShipStation for a bit now, I can\u2019t get over just how cool our label printing software is. I admit I\u2019m a little biased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take Scan to Print<\/a>, for example. Scan to Print is a label-making feature that enables ShipStation users to get total package weight, see the postage rate, and print a shipping label just by scanning three barcodes. Seriously \u2014 that\u2019s it. And it doesn\u2019t matter how many orders a retailer ships. Scan to Print can help every merchant make their shipping workflow more efficient.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    3 Scan to Print Stories<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Preemptive Printer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    In the interest of saving time, you start by printing every packing slip and shipping label for all orders awaiting shipment. You place the shipping labels aside and use the packing slips to pick and pack. When you get back to your workstation, you grab the pile of shipping labels and start matching them to their corresponding packages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In theory, this is an efficient shipping workflow. In practice\u2026 not so much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Printing the packing slips<\/a> and shipping labels at the same time means having to keep track of more paperwork. And if you misplace one or the other, you have the privilege of sorting through the potentially hundreds of other packing slips or shipping labels to find the one you\u2019re missing. Plus, because the order in which you packed boxes and the order in which you printed shipping labels likely aren\u2019t the same, you have to play the most un-fun game of \u201cMemory\u201d ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    And what if some items are out of stock<\/a>? You\u2019ll have at least one \u2014 if not several \u2014 completely useless printed shipping labels you wasted time (and money) printing. Now you need to void those and print new ones once the product is back in stock, which means you\u2019ll be paying double for one label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
